Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

tax a Land-Rover as a private vehicle if the folding back seats are fixed and it is used to pull a trailer in which goods are carried?

AThe simple answer is no. The Vehicles

(Excise) Act 1962 Section 10 refers to this point and a court case James v Davies (October 21 1952) in the Divisional Court made it clear that to pull a goods-carrying trailer you would need to license the LandRover as a goods vehicle. Extra duty will also be payable for drawing the trailer based on the unladen weight of the towing vehicle.
