MR. G. P. ROBERTS, M.I.Mech.E., technical director of Guy Motors. Ltd., has been elected chairman of the Birmingham centre of the Automobile Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, in succession to MR. D. M. SINCLAIR, C.B.E., M.L.Mech.E., general manager of the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., who has retired after two years as chairman of the centre.

MR. J. DELICATE, of Courtaulds, Ltd., has been elected chairman of the Coventry sub-area of the Traders' Road rra nspo r t Association. MR. J. Guimttuxw. of Alfred Herbert, Ltd., is vice-chairman, and Ma. C. H. Sstrrh, of the Parkside Garage Co., Ltd., honorary secretary.
MR G. H. FORD, M.Sc., has been appointed assistant secretary of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Before joining the Institution in 1938, he was with the International Institute of Agriculture at Rome, to which he was sent as technical agent by the then Board of Agriculture.
Ma. A. T. BAtcEst, M.I.R.T.E., formerly superintendent at the Leyland works at Ham, Kingston, is moving to South Africa to take up an appointment with Leyland Motors, Ltd., as the company's general works and service manager in the Union. MR. H. E. SAstEs has succeeded to Mr. Baker's former position, and MR. R. LeacErr, previously at the Leyland depot at Lincoln, takes over from Mr. Sames at Dudley.
