Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A TRANSPORT and traffic study group has been established at the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology.

The Welsh Office is providing £25,000 each year. and the Department of Transport will provide additional support.

Under Professor M. Bruton of UWIST's Department of Town Planning, the unit will be engaged initially in three areas — the structure of South Wales bus fares, ways of improving hospital access and the dissemination of public transport information. The last two will be sponsored by the DTp.

It is likely that the unit will be used by a wide variety of parties in future.

The Welsh connection might point towards uses by the European Coal and Steel Community, while county councils, freight and passenger transport operators could gain from its expertise.

A Welsh Office spokesman told CM this week that the unit's services would be available to anyone.
