Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A decision on the future of the continuously variable transmission (CVT), developed by Leyland, but not included in the recent Leyland Daf merger, is imminent, according to the Rover Group.

Although Leyland developed the CVT, all "intellectual property rights" were retained by the Rover Group four months ago when it sold its loss-making Leyland Trucks group.

This week the Rover Group confirmed that it has been talking to a number of commercial vehicle rnanufactuers — not only Leyland Daf — with a view to corning to an agreement on the use of CVT. Leyland Daf confirmed that it has been negotiating with Rover on the continuing development of CVT and possible applications.

Leyland Daf reports that its recently-revealed Roadrunner artic unit is still undergoing evaluation trials. Two Roadrunner tractive units are now on the road with operators, and have shown an "opportunity for extending its development".

Leyland Daf, however, is not saying when a production version is likely to be launched in the UK.
