THE National Travel Survey being carried out for the Department of the Environment is covering 15,000 households, and costing £270,000.

Mr Kenneth Marks, Under Secretary at the Department, gave these figures in the Commons last week.

He said that by means of the Survey the Department obtained data •on people's travel patterns, together with information on individual and household characteristics. This provided an essential input to transport policies.

Fly high

SALES increases of 150 per cent on the previous year have been recorded by Eagle Engineering while ,their exports have jumped a massive 168 per cent.

The new figures released this week put last year's into the shade—production and sales rose by 48 per cent and exports by 156 per cent.

Road film

WILLHIRE Rentals have made a film showing the problems of Middle East haulage. The film team followed the truck routes to the Gulf States in a caravette via Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran and so on to Teheran.

The film is to be made available to societies and clubs interested.

ICL transport

INTERNATIONAL Computers Ltd has set up a new wholly owned subsidiary, ICL Transport Ltd.

The new company will be responsible for the road transport of ICL Group products within the UK and to the Continent. Its headquarters are at Cavendish Road, Stevenage, Herts.

WARWICKSHIRE Constabulary and the RI-IA had a combined display at the Royal Agricultural Show, Kenilworth.

The theme was Britain's links with Europe, and French police were on hand to help out.
