"PASSENGER Transport and the Environment" is the subject of a major conference at York organised by the Chartered Institute of Transport, the Institution of Highway Engineers, the Royal Town Planning Institute, and other bodies, on March 24-25.

The papers will include : "Bus operation in alternative urban structures," by Guy Newberry; "Bus system experiments and developments," by Michael Jackson; and "Vehicle design for people" by Barry Brooks. Dr John Gilbert opens the conference.
