The Rt. Hon. Julian Amery, MP for Brighton Pavilion has joined the board of Dennis Brothers Ltd. He is joined by J. A, Terry, who was previously financial director of the Chilton Electric Group, and F. S. Baddeley, who joins Dennis as group executive director of marketing, will be responsible for co-ordinating the marketing of all companies in the Dennis group. Mr. Baddeiey has previous marketing experience with the Ford Motor Co. B. J. Fazan, also formerly with Ford, has joined Dennis as group purchasing manager. Alan Potter has been appointed to the post of general managers& the Mercury industrial Tractors Division, a subsidiary of Dennis. He has been with RTS for 2i. years and previously held an executive position with Sutton and Son (St. Helens) Ltd. J. Bradford, who joined RTS as road/rail depot manager from ICI in 1968, has been made training and safety officer. The company's road/rail manager is now R. A. Bazley, who has been with RTS for 15 years.

W. D. Deeley, 47, becomes transport manager of South Suburban Co-operative Society Ltd. as from next Thursday, and will be responsible for a fleet of over 500 commercial vehicles, the central workshop and four service depots. Mr. Deeley joined a Chichester company in 1966 as production controller, leaving in 1968 to become garage manager and subsequently transport engineer for a London company, Picon Ltd.

Ronald Ellis, managing director of the truck and bus division of British Leyland, has been appointed by Manchester Institute of Science and Technology as a member of the Court of Governors and a member of the Council of the Institute.

Thomas Jennings Urwin, former town clerk of Bristol, has been elected to the board of the Bristol Omnibus Company. Mr. Urwin joined Bristol Corporation's legal department in 1931 and became the town clerk in 1958. He retired in November 1965.

P. Scully, general manager of Aldershot and District Traction Co. Ltd.. has been additionally appointed a director. William Neen, assistant traffic superintendent at Philadelphia (Co. Durham) with the Sunderland District Omnibus Co. Ltd.. has been promoted to traffic superintendent at the Murton depot of the Northern General Transport Co. Ltd. Ian 'T. Morrow haS been appointed chairman of Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd. Mr. Morrow is also chairman of Associated Fire Alarms Ltd., and several other companies. He replaces L. H. Allwood who has resigned and becomes vice-chairman. Mr. Allwood has been associated with the company in a professional and directorial capacity since 1929. G. A. W. Crane. who retires from the board, will be appointed to the newly created position of honorary president, subject to shareholders' agreement, Laurie P. Collen has resigned his position as group fleet sales manager of Crane-Fruehauf and Boden Ltd. in order to join his two brothers, Ray Collen and Richard Collen, on the board of Merriworth (Engineering) Ltd., the Dartfordbased trailer manufacturer. Mr. Laurie Callen, who is now Merriworth's sales director, joined Crane-Fruehauf in 1960 as the sales representative for south-east England.

Christopher Madeley has been appointed chief press officer, commercial vehicles, Ford Motor Co. Ltd. He has succeeded John Southgate who has been promoted to manager of the company's overseas news bureau, where he is responsible for the distribution of news about Ford's UK products to places overseas. Mr. Madeley was previously press officer responsible for plant and engineering matters.

R. P. Wallace and K. Sporne have been appointed assistant managing director and finance director respectively of Harold Wood and Sons Ltd. Mr. Wallace was formerly divisional general manager with the dairy division of S. Fleece and Sons Ltd., Liverpool. Mr. Sporne was with Keith Blackman Ltd. before he joined the company in 1968.

Harry Raddon has been appointed NCL depot manager at Redruth, in charge of an area that includes Camborne, Falmouth, Penzance and St. Austell.

J. T. Masterton, chairman and managing director of Brown Bros. Ltd„ has accepted. nomination as president of BEN for 1970/71. The election takes place at the Fund's a.g.m. on April 23.

Harry Clark. who was recently appointed manager of the London Airport branch of Channelflow Freight Services Ltd., a subsidiary of Bullens Transport Group Ltd., has been elected chairman of the London Airport sub-Committee of the National Air Section of the Institute of Shipping and Forwarding Aaents.

We record with regret the deaths of Herbert G. Baker, Frank Collis, D. Edward Davies, Joseph Dowling, William G. Glenden, Edward Higgins and Eric Frank Wilson.

Mr. Baker, who died on Christmas day and had been ill for two years, was former general manager of Brighton, Hove and District Omnibus Co. Ltd.

Mr. Collis, 59, was, until recently, managing director of two George Cohen 600 Group Ltd.. subsidiary companies, Jones Cranes Ltd. and KL Foundries Ltd., relinquishing this position to take on new responsibilities at the head office of the Group,

Mr. Davies joined the staff of the Commercial Motor Users Association in 1939: in 1945 when the CM UA re-organized into the TRTA (now the FTAI, PVOA and RI-IA he became South Wales area joint secretary for TRTA and PVOA. retiring in 1969.

Mr. Dowling, 69, was a partner in the Middlesbrough haulage firm of Appleby and Dowling.

Mr. Glenden, 63, had been northern area superintendent for Ribble Motor Services Ltd. since 1960.

Mr. Higgins, 63, was manager of the northern district of British Road Services Ltd. He joined Currie and Co. (Newcastle) Ltd. in 1921 and was the company's Newcastle manager• before nationalization.

Mr. Wilson, in business as a haulage contractor for some time, died at his home in Peterborough. Lincs, at the age of 46.
