T H E MID-WAL-ES division of the Transport and General Workers' Union is organizing a icheme that, according to ocal union officer John Cooke, will end "the onehvay exercise of discipline by management over workers".
A circular entitled "Two'ay exercise of discipline" las been sent to all shop aewards in the Mid-Wales it-ea advising them to issemble dossiers on higher nanagement with a view to winging offendersagainst vorker-manager participaion in front of a Tribunal.
Mr Cooke says that in ■ rder to achieve an im)roved level of produc tivity, management and workers must work together as equals. And if a manager behaves in a dictatorial fashion with his workers, then job efficiency must suffer.
But what has prompted Mr Cooke to take this course of action? He told ('.If: "The TGWU is worried about managerial inactivity in dealing with 'rogue elephant' hauliers who undercut other operators and threaten drivers' jobs." Mr Cooke went on to say that management tardiness in dealing with this and other threats to the driver's livelihood will be made public if nothing is done.
