Turner has rejected an application by SMT Services of Canterbury for a new international licence for five vehicles and five trailers. Turner was concerned by convictions for the use of untaxed and unlicensed vehicles.
Maintenance neglect • Clynderwen, Dyfed, farmers David and Sandra Owen have been given a formal warning about their maintenance standards at a Cardiff disciplinary inquiry. The Owens were called before South Wales TC John Mervyn Pugh after their vehicle was given a prohibition for a defective tyre.
Farmers warned • Farmers and tachographs did not seem to be very compatible, Bain Wells farmers WR Protheroe & Son were told by South Wales TC John Mervyn Pugh. They were given a formal warning after a vehicle was found to have three boxes of tachograph records in the cab and a defective exhaust and tachograph.
Authority granted • The non-attendance of representatives at a public inquiry was criticised by West Midland TC John Mervyn Pugh when he granted White Arrow Express authority to base three vehicles at a site in Worcester. The TC imposed a number of conditions controlling the times of operation with the agreement of the company.
