VV Dunscroft, near Doncaster, of T. Severn and Sons, Ltd., Maj. F. S. Eastwood, Yorkshire Licensing Authority, said that he appreciated that the company operated in an area where profits were not high.
It was only by spending money on up-to-date equipment to reduce maintenance costs that one could hope to counterbalance the increase in operating expenses and be able to offer a public service at minimum charges, he said.
