ROBERT WALKER leaves the company's Oxford branch to take over the managership at Sheffield, MR. E. FREEMAN TYLER taking over at Oxford.

MR. 3. HARTLEY-TAYLOR, who has recently relinquished his position with Morgan, Crossley and Co., Ltd., has joined Centric Superchargers, Ltd., Preston, as sales director. In addition to developing the petrol-engine market, Mr. Hartley-Taylor proposes to give special attention to enhancing the efficiency of oil engines through supercharging and exhausting.

The new chairman of the Leeds and District Section of the Institute of Transport is MR. PERCY BEETHAM, transport manager to the Bradford Dyers Association, Ltd. He succeeds MR. D. M. GRACIE, district superintendent, L.N.E. Railway Co.; Leeds.

Mr. Beetharn is responsible for nearly 200 motor vehicles. Well known in industrial transport circles, he is a member of the Traders Traffic Conference, the transport committee of the Master Cotton Spinners Federation, the traffic committee of the Federation of British Industries, the Association of British Chemical Manufacturers, and the Bradford and District Commercial Vehicle -Owners Federation.

On his retirement from the chair, Mr. Gracie has resumed his former office as hon. secretary of the Leeds and District Section, and MR. E. TYLER reverts to hon. assistant secretary.

Our congratulations to Ms. W. A. WriasoN on his election, last Wednesday, to the presidency of the Commercial Motor Users Association for the year 1937-38. No member of the industry is better fitted for this important ,position, for not only has he had extensive experience in the operation of commercial vehicles, but he is a keen worker for unity.

From 1922 to 1931 he was traffic manager, to the British Oil and Cake Mills, Ltd., Hull, when he represented important interests on the Traders Coordinating Committee on Railway Rates and Charges, also the Hull Chamber of Corumerce and Shipping on the Transport Committee of the Association of British Chambers of Commerce. From then until 1935 he was on the transport executive of Unilever, Ltd., following which he became chairman and managing director of S.P.D., Ltd., which operates some 500 vehicles under A licences.

He is a fellow of the Industrial Transport Association, and was a member of the national council of that body until 1935.
