Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A CALL for London Transport to use conductors stationed at busy bus stops has been made by the London Transport Passengers Committee. The conductors would collect fares and issue tickets before passengers boarded buses.

nis move follows a visit by LTPC members to Oxford, where kerbside conductors are used at a few busy pick-up points in the city centre.

London Transport, however, has told the LTPC that the efficient operation of one-man buses in the capital is best linked to a system of pre-paid tickets, season tickets and simplified fare scales.

Pressing for an experiment to be mounted by LT, the Passengers Committee suggested at its last meeting some possible sites for kerbside conductors.
