reports that its Lincoln factory is to close in 12 to months time with a loss of up to 700 jobs.
According to local Amalgamated Engineering Union and Transport and General Workers Union officials the problems began last year when the senior management claimed that lower wages and a single union status was necessary for survival.
Discussions on an attempted compromise offer from the unions are reported to have broken down on June 13th when Clayton Dewandre warned the unions that it would close the factory and transfer the business elsewhere.
