A.E.C. ENGINES FOR FINLAND: Vanajan Autotehdas Oy, the Finnish commercial vehicle manufacturer, has ordered another 30 A.E.C. diesel engines, bringing this year's total ordered from A:E,C. to nearly 500 power units. The present contract specifies AV690 192-b.h.p. units for use in buses and commercial vehicles.
SEVEN ORDERED: British Portland Cement Manufacturers Ltd. has bought five Aveling-Barford SN 35-ton dump trucks for operations at its Magheramorne Works in Northern Ireland and another two SN 35tonners have been ordered by Sir Lindsay Parkinson and Co. Ltd. for opencast mining near Leeds. Combined value of the orders is 171016 than £100,000.
MORE TASKERS TRAILERS: A total of 20 trailers have recently been ordered from 'Caskets of Andover (1932) Ltd., and include 10 25-1on front loading semi-trailers for operation by the Automobile Trading Company of Tripoli. These will be used in conjunction with A.E.C. Militant tractors in the Lybian oilfields. The Lybian army has ordered seven Taskers four-wheel generator trailer chassis through the Africa Motors Co. Ackerman type steering will be incorporated, and the vehicles are to be fitted with Auto Diesel Ltd. generators. The remaining three trailers will be special 15-ton pole trailers for Br itish Railways.
YORK TRAILERS FOR GHANA: The Ministry of Transport in Ghana has ordered 55 Model W2, 12-ton platform trailers worth £45,000 from the York TrailerCo. Ltd. York will also .build nine tandem-axle Teamster platform trailers for Flowers Brewery Ltd.
SCAMMELL TRAILERS TO ASSIST RAIL REPLACEMENT: Because of the increased need for road vehicles following the closure of the railways in Mauritius. Scammell agent Rogers and Co. Ltd., of Mauritius. has ordered a further 12 Scammell 13/14-ton fifth-wheel coupling semi-trailers. They will be supplied as chassis only, and operated with Leyland Super Comets as matched outfits.
305 FOR NIGERIA: The British West African Corporation Ltd. has just placed a contract worth over 1'600,000 for 305 Albion and Leyland diesel-engined.goods chassis for Nigeria. It covers 175 Leyland Comets, 300 Albion Chieftain Super Six models and 30 Albion Super Reivers.
100-PASSENGER BUSES: Compagnie Generale lndustrielle de Transport, of Lille, has ordered 42 Brossel A92 DARL singledeck buses powered by rear-mounted Leyland 0.400 diesel engines and having hilly automatic gearboxes, air suspension and hydraulically assisted steering. The Jonekheere bodies will have 28 seats and room for 72 standees.
