Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

One of the 50 62-seater Trolleyluses for Cape Town, Along with 32-seater Trolleylus and Electric Truck

— Stand 94

ONE of the fleet of 50 trolleybuses, with 62-seater all-metal bodies by Weymann's Motor Bodies (1925), Ltd., which the Ransomes concern is supplying to Cape Town Corporation, occupies part of this stand.

The drive is transmitted by a Ransonies-Garrett patent floating propeller shaft, which is specially designed to eliminate whipping and vibration.' The internal-expanding brakes act on the front and rear wheels, and the airbrake equipment embodies a Reavell compressor driven .by a Ransomes motor, the compressor unit being electrically and mechanically insulated from the chassis, On account of the use of all-metal bodywork, low-tension lighting is supplied by a motor generator set.

The main driving motor is of Ransomes design and manufacture, and, in view of the arduous conditions of service in Cape Town, it is rather larger than usual, having a rated 'output of 80 b.h.p. Regenerative and rheostatic braking are provided by the maker's patent system of control, whereby regenerative braking is obtained compulsorily on the same pedal as applies the air brakes.

Many features embodied in the Cape Town trolleybuses are to be found in the four-wheeled trolleybus for Ipswich, which is on view. It is not, however, provided with regenerative and rheostatic braking, the motor being series-wound for field control.

Alongside these passenger vehicles is to be found a 2-ton low-loading elec

trk truck with an elevating platform. The driving motor is 'of the totally enclosed series-wound type, mounted on the axle case between the front wheels. Control is by the use of the foot, and safety interlocking features are incorporated to prevent the simultaneous application of power and brakes.

Should the driver leave the platform of the truck, power is automatically cut off and the brakes applied. The drum .pattern controller provides four speeds in each direction. All four wheels of the model on view are steelable by means of a tiller.

A trolleybus 80 h.p. traction raotol and an electrically operated brake unit are shown independently.=Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies, Ltd., Orwell Work% Ipswich,
