But Palletforce chief executive Mick Scarlett freely admits Palletline was the model his network followed when setting up in September 2001. The plc is owned, run and operated by its members. "We saw a gap for another membership-owned network," he says. "We wanted something that would give us total commitment from our shareholders. We were looking for them to get a vested interest in the hub." All members have put their own money into the operation. "There is no cost to join the network but members have to make an investment into shares," Scarlett says.
