ROLLS-ROYCE Motors has asked Shrewsbury's Chamber of Commerce to back moves for the heavier lorry.
The Shrewsbury Chamber has been invited to support the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry in its campaign in favour of the Armitage proposals for a heavier lorry.
The campaign by the Birmingham Chamber is intended to spell out the economic facts behind the Government's proposals and to convince local people that the heavier lorry is vital to the future of the road transport industry.
Rolls-Royce Motors says the introduction of heavier lorries would mean fewer lorries with eight heavier lorries carrying six per cent more payload than 10 of the current vehicles.
