the' repair of motorvehicle springs, with the object of providing nation-wide service, is projected by the big group of spring manufacturers and trailer specialists which comprises J. Brockhouse and Co.. Ltd., West Bromwich, Messrs. Richard Berry and Son, Birmingham, and Messrs. James Leach, Leeds.
The plan is to augment the existing repair shops at the James Leach branch in Leeds, and at Messrs. Berry's Alma Street works at Aston, Birmingham, by new repair shops in London, Liverpool and Glasgow. Thus, in Scotland, the north of England, the Midlands and the south, both stocks of new springs and a repair service will be provided by the group, • particularly for the convenience of hauliers and operators of public service vehicles.
In connection with these developments, Mr. Walter Holdsworth, manager of the James Leach Leeds branch, has been appointed to control the whole of the group's spring-repair and servicing activities. This appointment does not, of course, concern Messrs. Berry's spring-manufacturing works at Smethwick.
Mr. Holdsworth has been with Messrs. Leach for 30 years, and was appointed manager eight years ago. He is senior vice-chairman of the C.M.E.A. North-Eastern Division.
