Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN a reserved decision, the North 1 Western Traffic Commissioners have refused to authorize W. Robinson and Sons (Great Harwood), Ltd., to convert into an express service their excursions from east Lancashire to Great Yarmouth.

At the hearing, it was submitted that the company were losing traffic because of the practice of linking licences held by different companies, and the use of through vehicles under the pretence of duplication.

The Commissioners stated that Robinson's service had many of the characteristics of extended tours, and that no case was made out for its licensing as an express service with unlimited duplication.

An alternative application, to allow reorganization of feeder services and the extension of periods of operation, was also refused.

Modifications of the vehicle allowance on the licence were granted as Follows: from Whitsun to October, five vehicles instead of three may be used on any one day on alternative routes. In addition, four vehicles in place of the present two may be operated outwards on any one day during the 39-day period beginning on the first Friday in July, and on return journeys during. the 38 days from the second Friday in July.

BAN ON BIG VEHICLES? VEHICLES weighing over 10 tons, laden or unladen, may be banned from using the Lairg-Tongue road, on which there are stated to he weak bridges, from March 11-June 10 by Sutherland County Council. Kyles vehicle ferry, which links Scourie and Lochinver, will be withdrawn for overhaul from March 12-26.
