Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

At the annual general meeting of the Underground Group of companies, Lord Ashtield, who presided, said that the paralysis in trade and industry during 1931 made its insidious influence felt amongst the companies of the group, and a rapidly accelerating fall in the volume of traffic led to the total number of passengers carried falling by 28 millions. Spread over the whole year, the fall is relatively small, amounting to only 1.2 per cent.

From an analysis of the bus and tramway traffic it was found that, on every day of the week, the rate of fall grew as the rate of fare increased, being substantial at fares of 6d. and over, an? representing almost one-third of the receipts from fares of 1s. and over. This traffic, said Lord Ashfield, has gravitated to the motor coach.

In dealing with the activities of Green Line Coaches, Ltd., he referred to tha fact that, throughout the year, the company has operated 25 routes into or across cential London, from and to points on the outer fringe up to 30 miles distant, and that over 12i million passengers have been carried. It has been found that at least a quarter of this traffic is of a regular business character.

In pursuit of its policy of co-ordination, the company has acquired, or is acquiring, the coach undertakings of Buck's Expresses (Watford), Ltd., Skylark Motor Coach Co., Ltd., Regent Motor Services, and part of the Associated Coaches (Ongar), Ltd. These acquisitions add 43 coaches to the company's fleet of 251 machines.

In dealing with Loudon buses, Lord A,shfield mentioned that there are now 1,985 T-type vehicles in service and that 322 more will come into use in 1932. It is interesting to learn that the maintenance costs of this made are low.
