THE receiver and manager of E. E. Bamford (Contractors), Ltd., Mansfield Road, Alfreton, is now selling the substantial fleet of vehicles on special A licences built up by this company. Twenty-nine have been taken over by a Salford concern.

Other transferi of ex-British Road Services' lorries are also reported below.NORTHERN AREA Mr. D. D. Needham, 79 Belgrave Street, Darlington, has assigned a lorry (2 tons 19 cwt.) to Messrs. S. and A. Transport. 147 Greenbank Road, Darlington.

J. Collin and Co., 16 Lodge Terrace, Hendon, Sunderland, have taken over a lorry (7 tons 8 cwt.) from Mr. C. Whitham, 11 Market Street, Droylsden, Manchester.

WEST MIDLANDS

Longton Transport, Ltd., King Street, Longton, have acquired a further six lorries and a trailer. Five of the lorries (15f tons) and the trailer came from Mr.

L. Gleave, Holly Bank, Audlem, and the other lorry (3 tons) from Stableford Transport, Ltd., Stableford, near Newcastleunder-Lyme. In turn, Longton Transport have transferred a lorry (31 tons) to Mr. J. Swain, Middletown, Welshpool.

Gleave Transport (Audlem), Ltd., Gobowen. near Oswestry, have transferred a lorry (71 tons) to Messrs. North Shropshire Transport, It Park Terrace, Whit tington Road, Oswestry. . Assignments have also been made by Messrs. E. and J. Davis, Stockwell Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, of a lorry (3 tons) to Geo. Jones and Sons (Birmingham), Ltd., Imperial Works, Bolton Street, Birmingham, 9; Mr. G. Richardson. 100 Dudley Road East, Oldbury, one (41 tons) to Mr. J. Filbec, Earley, Reading; and Mr. J. Brindley, The Close, Sharnford, near Hinckley, one (4-1 tons) to Mr. S. Washington, 71 Amington Road, Bolehall. A direct purchase of a lorry weighing 3 tons unladen has been made by Mr. M. Myhill, 41 Wychwood Avenue, Knowle.

EAST MIDLANDS Nineteen lorries and an articulated trailer (114 tons 18 cwt.) have been taken over front Mr. A. G. B. Burney, receiver and manager of E. E. Bamford (Contractors). Ltd., Mansfield Road. Alfreton, by Hacketts Haulage, Ltd., Salford, 5. A number of these has alreadybeen transferred, a lorry (81 tons) going to Messrs. Walker Bros. in the North Western Traffic Area; two (141 tons) to Peter McCallum and Sons, Ltd., Wins of Milton; two (14 tons 11 cwt.) to Mr. T. A. Metcalfe, Blackwell Garage Farm, Darlington; one (61 tons) to James Clarke and Sons (Haulage), Ltd., 35 Dialstone Lane, Stockport; one (41 tons) to John Hanson (Haulage). Ltd., 2 King Street. Wakefield; one (31 tons) to F. Hardy and Son, Ltd., Grange Moor, Flockton, near Wakefield; and a lorry and the articulated trailer (8 tons 7 cwt.) to Woodcock's Transport (Chorley), Ltd., Heskin, near Chorley.

Mr. Burney has also transferred a lorry (2 tons 16 cwt.) to Messrs. Shepperson Bros., New Street. Sutton-in-Ashfield, and a lorry and an articulated vehicle (6 tons 6 cwt.) to Federated Conveyors, Ltd., 62 Nichol Street, Leicester.

W. F. and F. Coxon, Ltd., Main Road Garage, Station Road, North Thoresby. Grimsby, have taken over eight lorries (24 tons 17 cwt.) from Messrs. W. F. and F. Coxon, of the same address.

Murphy Bros., Ltd., Feature Buildings, Melton Road, Thurmaston. Leicester, have transferred to Clayton's Transport, Ltd., 173 Loughborough Road, Leicester, twolorries (5 tons 19 cwt.) purchased from Mr. M. Regan, Chun Farm, Horsmonden, Kent. Rusheliffe Transport Co., Loughborough Road. Bunny, Nottingham, have also taken over a limy and an articulated trailer (8 tons 17 cwt.) from Murphy Bros. A lorry and three trailers have been acquired by A. R. Marshall and Sons (Bulwell), Ltd., Forest House, Hucknall Lane, Bulwell, Nottingham. The lorry and two of the trailers (11 tons 2 cwt.) were assigned by Mr. J. Ball, Stacey Road, Mansfield, and the other trailer (2 tons 4 cwt.) by Mansfield Haulage, Ltd., of the same address. Mansfield Haulage have also sold a lorry (61 tons) to Messrs. P. Goss and Son, 99a Quainton Road, Waddcsdon, Aylesbury.

SOUTH WALES Messrs. Parfitt Bros., Pennant Garage, Ebbw Vale, have taken over a lorry (3 tons) in a direct purchase. W. L. Bailey (Pontypool), Ltd., 15 St. Luke's Road, Pontnewynydd, have transferred a lorry (21 tons) to Beech of Cardiff, Ltd.. 9 Coldstream Terrace, Cardiff.

Five hauliers have had special A licences varied or revoked on the grant of ordinary A licences. They are Gwynne Bowen (Transport), Ltd., 141 West Street, Gorseinon (four lorries-101 tons); Messrs. Woodham Bros., 54a Thompson Street, Barry Dock (three-131 tons); Mr. L. Owen, Hafod Garage, Brynmawr (three —131 tons); T.S.P. Transport, Ltd., Villiers Yard, Villiers Road, Skewen (one31 tons); and Mr. L. C. Webley, 36 Sunnybank Road, Griffithstown (one7 tons).

WESTERN AREA Five lorries based at Kensford, acquired by Wcscol (Bradford), Ltd., Trinity Lane, Ripon, Yorks, have been resold. One (3 tons 16 cwt.) has gone to Messrs. S. Harris and S. J. Miners, Dunstone, Widecombe-in-the-Moor; one (21 tons) to Mr. C. E. Hockey. 45 Eastover, Bridgwater; one (2 tons 18 cwt.) to Mr. R. Gorman, East Wonford Hill, Exeter; one (2 tons 19 cwt.) to Mr. M. S. Small, Station Road, llminster; and one (2 tons 18 cwt.) to Mr. A. G. Dandridge. Embankment Road, Kingsbridgc. Western Transport, Ltd., Feeder Road, Bristol, have transferred two lorries, one (3 tons) going to Blatchfords Packers and Removers, Ltd., Paul Street, Exeter, and the other (71 tons) to Tone Vale Transport, Ltd., Ford Road, Wiveliscombe. S. Ball and Son (Transport), Ltd., West End Garage, have taken over a lorry (4 tons 1 cwt.) from Mrs. J. Mees, 54 Market Street, Newton-le-Willows. Sixteen lorries and two articulated outfits (62 tons 19 cwt.) held by Mr. H. F. Whitton, Station Road, Cullompton, have now been transferred to Whitton's Green and Cream, Ltd., of the same address. Mr. J. Brindley, The Close, Sharnford, near Hinckley. Leicester, has bought three vehicles (2 tons 4 cwt.) at Taunton.

Direct purchasers are P. D. Sleeman, Ltd., 38 Uxbridge Road, London, W.5, who have bought two lorries (6 tons); P.H.R. Carriers, Ltd., 172 Broad Lane, Hampton, one (3 tons 4 cwt.); Boardmans (Stratford), Ltd.. Broadway, London, F..15, four lorries (14 tons 4 cwt.) and a trailer; Hauliers (Eastern), Ltd., 75 South Street, Bishop's Stortford, a lorry (3 tons 9 cwt.); Mr. T. W. Hodge, 52 Florence Road, London, S.E.14, one (1 ton); and Messrs. T. H. Davey, 81 Rochester Way, London. S.E.3, one (2 tons 18 cwt.).

Cusick (Oldham), Ltd., Thornton Street North, Manchester, 9, have transferred more vehicles in this area. One (1 ton 2 cwt.) has gone to Bromley Transport Co., Ltd.. 151 Southlands Road, Bromley; two (51 tons) to Hatton and Wyatt, Ltd., 50 Siward Road, Bromley; and one (2 tons 4 cwt.) to Messrs. R.N. Transport, Staines. 12 Cherry Orchard, Staines.

Two lorries have been sold by Mr. L. F.. East, 11 Oakwood Road, London, S.W.20. one (3 tons 14 cwt.) going to Mr. A. J. Maffia, 50 Southchurch Road, London. E.6, and the other (3 tons) to CyprienFox, Ltd., Harvest Mews, London, N.7.

Mr. Maffia has, in turn, transferred a lorry (2 tons 19 cwt.) to Mr. G. Thorne, 131a Forest Lane, London, E.7. CyprienFox have also sold a lorry. Weighing 3 tons unladen, it has gone to Messrs. Pretoria Transport Services, Pretoria Road, Ilford Lane, Essex, who have also taken over a lorry (2 tons 17 cwt.), originally held by James Clark (Carriers), Ltd.. 5-7 St. John Square, Cardiff, from A. Owen. Ltd., 72-74 Park Hill, London,'S.W.4.

Woodcocks Transport (Chorley), Ltd.. Park Road Garage, Heskin, Chorley, who have taken over a lorry (4 tons 7 cwt.) and a trailer, based at Purfleet, from Tattersalls Haulage, Ltd., 25 Beverley Road, Manchester, 15, have transferred another lorry (3 tons) to Messrs. F. C. Seaget and S. E. Simner, 32 Gilders Road. Chessington.

Mr. G. Malyon, 70 Chargeable Street, London, E.16, who has transferred a vehicle (1 ton) to Messrs. Quick Services, 31 Stradbroke Grove, Buckhurst Hill, has, in turn, taken over one weighing 15 cwt. from Mr. W. J. Taylor, 5 Montague Road, London, E.11.

The Metropolitan Licensing Authority has also authorized the assignment of five lorries (18 tons 9 cwt.) to Mansfield Hauliers (East Ham), Ltd., 2 Cotswold Gardens, London, E.6. by the Warrington Warehousing Co., 54 Market Street, Newton-le-Willows; three (91 tons) to Wilde and Bennett, Ltd., 75 Station Road, Hadfield, Manchester. and one (6 tons) to Wild, Condon, Ltd.. Rope Street, Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent, both by Mr. L. Gleave, Holly Bank, Audlem. near Crewe; one (3 tons) to Mr. C. R. Beadell, by Mr. J.
