SHORTER ROUTE FOR AGRICULTURAL HAULIERS.

An old wood bridge over the River Forty Foot in Dowsby Fen, near Bourne and Spalding, is to be replaced by a new structure of steel. The cost is to be shared by Holland and Kesteven (Lincolnshire) County Councils and the Ministry of Transport. The bridge is expected to be completed by next autumn, and will provide a shorter route to Spalding in time for the sugar-beet and potato harvests.

Five sliding-roof refuse collectors, a special motor for the collection of pails and their contents, a 5-ton tipping lorry for hauling dust and clinkers from the Blackley reparation plant, a 3-ton tipper for the delivery of mortar and general transport work, and a mechanical gully-emptier to displace handemptying of gullies.
