Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Sfar as motor users are concerned, an innovation in the way of exhibitions is that which was held at the latter 'end of last week at the Central Hall, Westminster, London, at which various weighing and measuring instruments were displayed. The exhibition was held in connection with the annual general meeting of the Inc. Society of Inspectors of Weights and Measures.

At the exhibition eight of the stands had exhibits of interest to motor users. Liquid Measurements, Ltd., showed the Hammond petrol pump, which is of British manufacture and design, and for which it is claimed that advantages are offered, both to the purchaser of petrol and the dealer supplying the spirit, of visibility and accuracy.

Safety Storage Systems, Ltd., exhibited three types of petrol storage pump, each of the measuring instruments being of the piston-stroke type, capable of delivering exact quantities.

S. F. Bowser and Co., Inc., showed their. range of tanks and dispensing pumps, each type of Bowser pump carrying a certificate of accuracy issued by the Standards Department of the Board of Trade, and being fitted with a centrifugal filter which removes all water and impurities.

The Wayne Tank and Pump Co., Ltd., had on view a selection of their positive piston type self measuring petrol pumps.

Milwaukee Tank Works, Inc., showed their pumps, which are suitable for garages and filling stations, and which, operated on the ordinary piston-displacement principle, deliver exactly five gallons of spirit for each complete stroke of the piston. The second type of Milwaukee pump enables the customer actually to see the flow of the spirit he is buying.

Watts, Fincham and Co., Ltd., showed Hardoll patent automatic petrol-mea suring and distributing pumps, the No. 1 model being capable of. being operated by hand and being Suitable for the kerbside. The No. 6 model kerbside pump has automatic electrically operated distant control with an air compressor, which accelerates the discharge of the spirit, permitting of a delivery rate of between 13 and 14 gallons per minute. Portable tank and barrel plants were also shown.

The Anglo-American Oil Co., Ltd., showed the Oilbert and Parker selfmeasuring petrol pumps of the kerbside and-inside models and the portable type. They also showed their patent tank-measuring device, known as the Depth-oMeter.

Shell-Mex, Ltd., exhibited the Shell petrol pump, the main principle of the design being the use of measuring containers of one capacity only, which, having once been calibrated, cannot vary and must give accurate .measure.
