Mercedes-Benz Vario to get power boost
THE MERCEDES-BENZ Vario heavyduty van is set to receive a powertrain upgrade in order to meet stricter emissions targets. Using the same 4.25-litre fourcylinder unit as in the Atego. the Vario now features SCR AdBlue technology that, Mercedes claims, will help the vehicle "meet Euro-6 standards".
The powerplant will be available in three power outputs, namely 136hp, 150hp and 177hp. while GVW still remains at 7.5 tonnes with a maximum permissible payload of 4.2 tonnes and load volume of up to 17.4m3.
A spokesman for Mercedes says: "Ilie upgrading of the Vario's powcrtrain gives the vehicle a new lease of life and also gives it a future in the Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle line-up:
