Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Every now and then, Bob South, transport manager of Aerosol Products, Portsmouth, pops into our columns.

Last week, he spent all day addressing management :olleagues at the headquarters of his parent company, Cope 41Iman International. His subject? Transport, naturally_ His purpose? To explain how best to use the transport service to be epst effective. In an age when transport is still the cinderella of ndustry and commerce, we could do with more emissaries like Bob South.

This was no more apparent than last week when it was suggested that heavy lorries could have caused gas pipes to Fracture last summer with tragic results. Of course they could, but why? Were the pipes too near the surface? Were they nadequately protected? Were they worn paper thin with rust and 3g e?

The item was presented on BBC1 news against a Dackground of heavies thundering through a series of narrow streets_ The film was Dbviously speeded up and the noise amplified.

:oiinter-attack

But where was the voice of he industry, why was there no 3ounter blast? I said it before snd here it is again: The haulage industry must mprove its image by :ounter-attacking fast and Jigorously anyone who presents biased and Jninformed comment to the public.

Individual incidents may not /lean much, but collectively, they're damaging .
