Mr. C. E. Jordan, chairman of the transport committee of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. remindedhis listeners of this fact in a speech on the speed limit for commercial vehicles. Whilst it had been agreed by all concerned, with the exception of the Transport and General Workers' Union. that the principle of an increase to 30 m.p.h. for all goods vehicles was desirable and practicable, after two years it still awaited implementation, said Mr. Jordan.

"I consider," he added. "that .Mr. Barnes should have a Statutory Order issued raising the speed limit for all commercial vehicles to 30 m.p.h. as from August 1 next."
