• Kent general hauliers have offered their drivers a 3% wage increase in a move which is expected to win agreement with the unions. The offer, which came through the Kent Transport Federation negotiating body, is under consideration by up to 30 Transport & General Workers Union shop stewards.

Hauliers covered by the body include Lenham Storage and Hammonds. A deal should be implemented by 1 April. TGWU Kent area officer Wally Bradley says: "I'm happy with what we've got from them. It is similar to what is being offered elsewhere."
