Industrial Council has turned down a claim by Liverpool Corporation bus crews for extra payment for operating the larger 78-seater Atlantean buses, the new vehicles started operation on Monday on two city routes. The claim had been referred to N.J.I.C. by Liverpool Corporation who refused to negotiate a local agreement.
However, the men are still pressing for more pay and negotiations are continuing.
The Corporation has 200 Atlanteans on order and deliveries are being made at the rate of four a week. Of about 50 which have arrived at the Edge Lane depot, 20 are ready for service.
