THE TRAINING of heavy goods vehicle apprentice mechanics is to be promoted on Tayside by the federation of Perth & District Group Training Association and the Tayside Road Transport Group Training Association.
The joining of the two associations will cure what they both see as a weakness in their current training programmes.
Technical colleges are well equipped to train motor mechanics, but have neither the space, facilities nor equipment to cater for the HGV mechanic, said a spokesman for the Tayside GTA.
