Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

II Cumbria police say 75 nauliers have been prosecuted for flouting the current lorry Dan on the A685 between Brough and Tebay.

The experimental ban— imposed last December and due to run until next May—was imposed on the section of road linking the M6 and the A66 after residents in Kirkby Stephen complained about the environmental impact of HGVs.

The prosecutions are the result of a police enforcement campaign which began in October, though a spokesman for Cumbria Police says most truck drivers had complied with the ban, which applies to all vehicles plated at 18 tonnes and over.

The Road Haulage Association claimed the ban would force up to 400 lorries a day to use the A66 between Brough and the M6 at Penrith.

The future of the ban will be reconsidered by Cumbria County Council's Eden Area Committee on 15 September.
