• The Labour Party's transport policy, due to be unveiled next week, will propose lorryonly trunk routes, narrower motorway lanes — and a stop to the Government's road building white paper.
Some roads would be built under a Labour Government, but huge resources would also be switched to public transport, says Labour. Variable speed limits and a range of lower maximum speed limits will also be proposed to ease congestion and help safety.
