Both Bowie and MAN unveiled truck and service packages aimed at the environmentally conscious operator.
First, Ecolution by Scania is a complete carbon-reduction consultancy programme from the Swedish giant. It comprises four elements: • Vehicle spec optimised for the lowest carbon footprint • Customised driver training • Driver coaching for continuous improvement • Maintenance programme adapted to reduce the carbon footprint (paying special attention to air deflectors, axle alignment, etc).
Scania can produce a carbon footprint report for customers at regular intervals.
Ecolution requires a minimum three-year agreement with the customer. At this stage, it is unclear when it will be available to UK customers.
Turning to Scania's stablernate, MAN revealed the TGX Efficient Line an optimised variant of the TGX designed to achieve maximum efficiency.
This TGX has the best aerodynamics possible with a TGX XLX cab. No equipment, such as a sun visor, air horns, etc, that cause drag can be added to the tractor's exterior.
It is also restricted to 85km/h (coincidentally the speed at which CM conducts the motorway legs of its truck tests), and is fitted with a new intarder that has 25% lower friction losses when idling, saving 0,15 litres per 100km.
