22 Lorries in Big First Purchase Retained: Many More Buyers and Sellers

ABRADFORD haulier. Mr. T. J. Hughes, 264 Dick Lane, has purchased 24 lorries. They are the first es-British Road Services' vehicles to be taken over by him.

Mr. Hughes has transferred two of the lorries, one to Allisons Transport (Contracts), Ltd., 119 Clepington Road, Dundee, and one to Messrs. Park Thistle Coaches, Portland Garage, Hamilton.

Most of the other purchases reported this week have been made from-I-mullet's and dealers.

SCOTLAND A further eight lorries (421 tons) have been taken over by Charles Home and Co.. Ltd„ Grangemouth.

Mr. Ernest Sanderson, Bearsden. has bought another nine lorries and transferred six of them as follows: three (94 tons) to James Rice and Co., Ltd., Glasgow; two (54 tons) to R. D. Spinal, Ltd., Glasgow; and one (3 tons) to Messrs. Cowan's Motors. Mauchlinc.

Halley Coaches (Bathgate), Ltd.. Edinburgh, have had three vehicles (81 tons) transferred to them by Central Garage (Bathgate). Ltd., Bathgate, who have also assigned a vehicle (I ton) to John Hunter and Sons (Transport), Ltd., Airdrie; one (31 tons) to James Scott (Kirkcaldy), Ltd., Kirkcaldy; and one (6 tons) to Mr. Alexander W. Scott, Errol.

Mr. Tripncy is left with a lorry(71 tons) out of his latest purchase. Messrs. Taylor's Transport are left with three vehicles (9 tons), and Messrs. M. Ross and Sons, one (31,: tons).

Repeat purchases have also been made hy Mr. Andrew Mclyer, Inverness. of a lorry (5 tons); Mr. James S. Dochard, Perth. one (4 tons); Mr. Matthew Strachan, Dunfermline, three (9 tons); Tozer's -Transport, Ltd., London, one (21 tons), based in Glasgow: and Suther-. lands of Peterhead (Road Hauliers), LtdPeterhead, three, including two articulated outfits (8 tons), Special A licences have also been granted by the Scottish Licensing Authority to the following first purchasers: Messrs. NORTHERN AREA N. Kindon and Sons, Ltd., Burn Road, West Hartlepool, have taken over their first ex-B.R.S. lorry (3 tons 12 cwt.). It was sold to them by Vickers Transport Co. (Peterborough), Ltd., 36 St. Leonard's Street. Peterborough.
