The Treasury were prepared to grant loans to former hauliers wishing to re-enter the industry at an interest rate of 4i per cent. This was stated by Mr. E. A. Whitehead, chairman of the road transport section of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, when he referred to approaches to the Ministry of Transport. He said that the proposed rate compared unfavourably with the 3 per cent. paid by the British Transport Commission to those 'nationalized hauliers awaiting settlement of compensation.

When inspecting vehicles with a view to tendering, potential buyers would do well to make a note of tyre and engine numbers to ensure, if they are successful, that there will be no doubt when taking delivery that the vehicles are equipped as they were when inspected.
