Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

106, outlining his difficulty in obtaining a positive response to his applications for employment because of his "lack of experience on Class 1 vehicles".

I am surprised indeed that haulage companies can afford the luxury of turning down applications from drivers with his experience, which, he rightly points out, far exceeds that of many of his colleagues in civilian employment.

The Armed Forces have been one of the main recruitment sources of the haulage industry since the First World War, and I see no reason why the comparatively recent introduction of hgv licensing regulations should change this.

I work for a company with distribution centres and depots throughout the UK. If Driver Webster would like to contact me it is a simple job to put him in touch with one of my colleagues. We can not guarantee him a job but we can at least see him to talk about it.

(Incidentally, if Driver Webster's friends in the RCT are interested we will be pleased to hear from them as well!) J. P. P. ROBERTS Personnel Officer, London Carriers Ltd, Whittle Lane, Heywood, Lancs.
