South Shields Tramways Committee bas prohibited the carriage of cinema films on the tramways. It has just refused a request from the'raanager of the Palace Theatre for the carriage of films on the tramcars, although it was declared that the films are in fire-proof iron boxes, which are practically hermetically sealed.
The question of the conveyance of films • has been discussed by the Municipal Tramways Association, which has cog gested that the carriage of films should either be prohibited altogether or made subject to very stringest regulations relating to fire-proof cases being amply protected against the possibility of being tampered with during transit.
