It is only during the last few months that Swindon and the surrounding districts have been opened up by motorbus, and art outcry, has now been raised against the damage which it is stated the vehicles have done to the roads. Before the motorbuses were started the surrounding districts were out of touch with the town, and the train service, especially considering the situation of Swindon from a railway point of view, was an extraordinarily poor one, There is little doubt that the bus services have proved a boon to many of the inhabitants, and the view is expressed that the roads should be made suitable to be able to carry this class of•passenger traffic.
