If the railways obtain the powers they are seeking under the Road Transporters and Railways Bill, said Captain Davis, managing director of the National Road Transport Clearing Rouse, Ltd., a few days ago, about 8,000 haulage contractors will be forced out of business, and this will affect about 36,000 people now dependent on the industry.
