Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Bath and West and Southern Counties Societies Show opened at Bristol on Tuesday last. The implement and machinery in motion section of the exhibits was for the most part well up to the usual standard. • The collection of implements, including large power machines for tractor and portable engine Use, was large, but not many agrimotors were on view.

The J. I. Case Threshing Machine Co. had one of the best agrimotor stands, for there were no fewer than three on this stand, viz., two 10-18 h.p. models and one 15-27 h.p. model. There was also to be seen on the Case stand a silo filler of a type which is frequently operated by the Case 10-18 h.p. model, and a steel thresher being driven by another similar model.

Messrs. Saunderson's, of Bedford, had their usual number of exhibits on a wellarranged stand. There was a 23-25 h.p. Saunderson Universal model G, and. another one of the same type in motion driving a thresher or saw bench.

The one model of the British Wallis standard tractor for agricultural purposes was exhibited by the makers, Ruston and Hornsby, Ltd. One Overtime agrimotor of the model G type was exhibited by the Associated Manufacturers Co. The stand of the Austin Motor Co., LUC., was very well arranged, but there was only one tractor exhibited. The same remarks Eipply to the Fordson, -which was exhibited by Ramsey, Ltd., Bristol. Melchior, Armstrong and Dessau (London), Ltd., had a very attractive stand on which were staged the E.B. model A.A. farm tractor. The Hart Parr Co. had entered two models, viz., the Kart .Parr 30 and Hart Parr 20, but only the larger model was seerton

hibited their steam agricultural tractor. Messrs.E. V. Twose, of Halberton, Devon, had the International -Junior tractor on view, and a representative exhibit of the New Britain garden tractor.

The Twin City oil tractor was found on the stand of the sole agents, Messrs. Fairbanks, Morse and Co., together with a very large collection of mechanical devices. H. Cl. Burford and Co., Ltd., had a stand for the Cletrac tractor. H. Garner, Ltd., exhibited their model .T.A., while the International Harvester Co. had on their stand ilie Titan and the International Junior, together with a very large amounE al farm machinery. Wallace tellasgow), Ltd.' on their stand exhibited one model of the well-known Glasgow tractor. Peter Brotherhood, Ltd. exhibited the Peterbro tractor.

This about completes the list of tractors at the show, • There was a large entry of steam engines and road tractors, the number, in spite of the difficulties of transport in these days, being quite equal to last year.

Among the other articles on the stand of Ransomes, Sims .,.and Jefferies was their 5 ton compound steam wagen fitted with rubber tyr.e. Ruston and Hornsby, Ltd., were showing their 6 h.p. steam traction engine. This engine is of the type used for road work and steam cable ploughing and cultivating, and is fitted with a winding drum end i wire rope. The stand of the Sentinel Waggon Works„. Ltd., was well set out with a 6 ton steam wagon, a 5 ton end-tipping wagon, and a 4 twiner. John Fowler and Co, {Leeds), Ltd.. exhibited their 8 n.h.p. compound road locomotive. There was also a model of their 10 ton single-cylinder steam road roller on

view. Marshall's, of Gainsborough, staged their 6 n.p.h. traction engine. This engine possesses all the latest improvements, and is equipped for cable ploughing. A 5 tan compound steam tractor wa,s also shown. Wallis and Steevens, Ltd., among their exhibits, staged a 7 h.p. traction engine. a 10 ton single-cylinder road roller, and a steam tractor mounted on rubber tyres for fast road haulage.

W. Tasker and Sens, Ltd., of Andover, showed their " Little L.g.aal", " steam tractor type 112 in two models and a 3 ton steam wagon. There were three trailers, one with side tipping body and another vvi-Eh end-tipping body, all to carry '5 tons and spring mounted. The Yorkshire Commercial Motor Co. also had a very attractive stand, showing a 3 ton steam wagon on rubber tyres as well as an excellent example of the 5 to b ton steamer. On Clayton and Shuttleworth's stand was an -6 n.h.p.

compound traction engine, a compound steam tractor, and a 3 ton steam wagon fitted with mechanical end-tipping body and mounted on rubber tyres. There was a long stretch of staging for the exhibits of Agricultural and General Engineers, Ltd., and besides a large number of oil engines and ageiculturar implements of all kinds Richard Garrett and Sons, Ltd., had a 5 ton steam wagon on rubber tyres, a 2i ton electric wagon, a 7 n.h.p. traction engine, and a compound steam tractor, a 6 ton trailer, and a sleeping van on view. Burrell and Sons showed their 5 n.h.p. compound traction engine. Barford and Perkins, Ltd., had a very large collection of motor road rollers of various sizes and suitable for all purposes. Aveling and Porter, Ltd., had a road roller and a 5 ton tractor. Merry. weather and Sons, Ltd., al,so had their usual attractive stand.
