EDDIE STOBART, the transport division of Stobart Group, is to cease running a dedicated fleet of vehicles from its Lillyhall depot in Workington, Cumbria, putting 15 driver jobs at risk.

Lillyhall has 500,000ft2 of blocked and racked ambient storage space and will remain in the Stobart Group portfolio of depots.

A statement from the company says: "Following a review of the company transport network, and in particular the work carried out by our specialist fleet, it is proposed that Eddie Stobart will cease to operate a fleet of vehicles from the Lillyhafl depot.

"The proposal affects 15 employees, all drivers, and, as there are a number of other driving opportunities within Eddie Stobart, we will endeavour to ensure all those affected are offered suitable alternatives."

• There is one new driver on Stobart's books, however. Taking your HGV test is always going to be a nerve-wracking affair, but when you're Edd Stobart (pictured far left), the third generation hoping to keep the famous haulage name alive and are being trailed by a camera crew filming every moment, even a conunitted Stobart Group grumbler would offer their sympathy. Viewers of Channel 5's Trucks and Trailers witnessed Edd pass his test after training from Cumbrian firm System Training.
