TYNE and Wear Transport is to offer a special tour as part of its celebrations for one hundred years of transport.
Two preserved double-deck buses will operate the tour which will include part of the Tyne and Wear coastline, the Monkwearmouth Museum of Land Transport and the Washington Waterfowl Park.
The buses are both 25 years old, one a Leyland and one an AEC. The tour fare will be £1.10 per adult and 70p for children.
The PTE has also published a souvenir book to celebrate one hundred years of service. Entitled Horse Tram to Metro, the book contains a series of fascinating historic photographs of buses, trams, trains and trolley-buses.
