Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A BUS COMPANY in Telford New Town, in East Shropshire, is starting up a new service in the heart of the town in direct competition with the Midland Red.

Britannia International of Oakengates, Telford, has been granted a licence by the Traffic Commissioners to run a new service and Gerald Smith, managing director, said he hoped it would start early in the new year.

He added: "It is a unique situation as the Midland Red have been granted the same licence. The success of the new service depends very much on the general public supporting it and its future depends on that support."

Mr Smith said he believed the fares on the service would be cheaper than those presently offered by Midland Red.

The company was awaiting a Traffic Commissioners decision on setting a date for starting the new service.
