at docks and bays on ground level and goods will be automatically carried to the nine floors of shopping and other structures above in a completely new conception of transport facilities within a new town which has been promised by Cumbernauld Development Corporation.
The first phase should be completed by 1966 and involves a town centre with the entire ground• area devoted to transport and communications. A dual carriageway will• run throughout the centre, giving access to double deck park,. ing areas. Bus routes will run through the arterial central route with a bus station and bus stops, feeding to escalators, stairs, lifts and ramps.
Cumbernauld Development Corporation contends that any future city centre must come to terms with the motor age.
