UNLOADING BAN AT GLOUCESTER?

L'OLLOWING consideration by the I highways and works sub-committee of the Gloucester City Council of a proposal to ban the loading and unloading of vehicles in certain Gloucester streets, prompt action has been taken by the secretary of the Western Division of the Traders' Road Transport Association, Mr. Arthur G. Akers.

In a circular letter to owners of affected premises drawing attention to the proposal and its effects. he asks for the completion of a questionnaire relating to loading facilities at their premises. By the subsequent collation of the resulting information it is expected that a strong case can be presented against any such restriction.

L.T.E. ADVISERS FOR CEYLON

I T is understood that three officials of the London Transport Executive are due to leave for Ceylon soon to advise the Ceylon Ministry of Transport on the operation of buses under nationalization. Mr. L. C. Hawkins. a member of the Executive. may lead the team. Their expenses will be met by the British Government as part of this country's contribution under the Colombo Plan.

OIL SEARCH INTENSIFIED ROSPECTING for oil in Britain is now being undertaken on a greater scale than ever before, the Minister of Fuel and Power stated in the House of Commons on Monday. Promising discoveries were made last year in the Egmanton area of Nottinghamshire. Output for 1956 from the 230 wells now producing is expected to exceed 60,000 tons.

Mr. Brazier was for several years a technical manager Of the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., and a director of Dunlop (Manchester), Ltd.. also a onetime chairman of the Rubber Industry Standards Committee.
