MR. WATTS BUYS VANGUARD.

ATE in the last week of July. The 1—+ Commercial Motor understands, a deal was completed by which Mr, John Watts, Lydney, managing director of Red and White Services, Ltd., acquired Vanguard Motors Co., Ltd., which operates the routes from Swansea to Rhosilli, Llangennith, Llanmadog and Three Crosses, and the Goli,er Peninsula on the northern side.

Negotiations have been in progress for some time, and were made effective as from July 29.

The business will still be carried on, despite the change of ownership, as Vanguard Motors (1920), Ltd., and no staff changes will be made. It is understood that Red and White Services, Ltd., has an interest in the newly acquired service of Mr. Watts.

FIGHT AGAINST HIGHER FARES.

MOTTINCHAM Corporation's application to the East Midland Traffic Commissioners, at Nottingham, on August 10, with reference to the substitution of buses for trams on the Nottingham-Arnold route, will meet with considerable opposition. Objection will be directed to the higher fares which it is proposed to charge.

Last Friday, North Western Road Car Co., Ltd., took over the HalifaxManchester service of Ripponclen and District Motors, Ltd. ,
