Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Lowfield Distribution is offering a fleet maintenance and repair service to third-party customers. from sites in Maidstone, Kent and St Helens near Merseyside.

With nine bays at the Merseyside workshop and four at Maidstone, Lowfield found there was surplus capacity and decided to make the workshops available to third parties. Routine maintenance through to full repair work and MOT prep is covered, for all sizes of vehicle, and Lowfield is keen to attract more clients.

"About 50% of our customers are third party at the moment." says operations director Martin

Graham. "Our emphasis is very much on fleet service because we know and understand that industry." Night maintenance is a service Graham is promoting. "We want to be working 24-hours-aday, six-days-a-week. We're available for routine maintenance out of hours because this is what the fleet user demands."

The two centres are each run by a team of seven "but you won't find a garage manager on the site," says Graham. -The emphasis is on the teams being in charge of their own profit centre, overseen by the company transport manager Roy Bradley, based at Daventry."
