Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

RE YOUR NEWS story about -faulty bulb cost £1.000 (CM 1 September).

Surely any responsible haulier makes sure that each of their vehicles has spare bulbs and fuses in the cab, especially when they only cost 27p".

If the Bristol operator named in the article had provided a bulb kit the driver would have been able to replace the faulty bulb in-situ. without having to travel to Avonmouth and then to Bristol for retest.

Also, contrary to the director's comments, ie "I am fully supportive of measures to make sure that vehicles are roadworthy, but surely the Inspectors have better things to do..."

I think VOSA was far from being unreasonable —many accidents have been caused by faulty or absent signals.

Finally, the director says the incident cost £1,(X)0 in lost business. I think there may well be a flood of operators moving to Bristol, if £1,000 can be earned in five hours!
