• A DAF coach — probably with a Van Hool body and in the colours of a Dutch operator — is expected to compete in next year's Brighton coach rally. If its reception is favourable the coach chassis — in right-hand drive form — could be imported into the UK, a DAF spokesman told CM this week.
DAF produces three coach chassis with front, rear and underfloor engine configurations. Engine power outputs ranging from 120 bhp to 180 bhp are available.
Asked if there were any plans to import DAF's city bus — popular with municipal operators throughout Holland — to the UK, the spokesman said "No comment". The city bus is an integrally constructed vehicle with full air suspension.
