ASIDCUP, Kent, haulier holding a B licence confining the operations of two vehicles to a radius of 11 miles admitted to the Metropolitan deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. C. J. Macdonald, last week, that he had operated to Barnstaple, in Devon. The Authority had called upon Frederick B. Lill to show cause why t B licence, authorizing the carriage of furniture and household effects, books and stationery. should not be revoked, suspended or curtailed under Section 178 (1) (a) of the Road Traffic Act.

Outlining the reasons for the enquiry. Mr. Macdonald said that Lill had been warned three times about operating outside the conditions of the licence, " In spite of these warnings ", he said, "you don't seem to bother very much."

Mr. Lill said that it was difficult to keep to the conditions of his licence. When Mr. Macdonald referred to 18 occasions when Lill has operated outside his conditions within a period of two months, Lill replied that he was trying to get the licence "put right ". He was carrying, he said, for Encyclopmdia Britannica "all over the place "; they had supported him in an application which was refused.

The deputy Licensing Authority. reserving his decision, said that he would review the position in three months' time.
