Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW multi-purpose transporter to carry up to three. cars has been developed by Carrirnore Six-Wheelers Ltd., and the first one has just been delivered to Denham Motor Sales Ltd. The transporter takes the form of a sided semitrailer which is 27 ft. long and, in the case of the Denham unit, is used with a , Mercedes-Benz 319-100 tractive unit, bringing the overall length of the whole outfit up to 35 ft.

The trailer frame is slightly cranked at two points so that the body floor slopes towards the rear and, when it is laden, the floor height at the rear is only

1 ft. 8 in. A pair of ramps carried under the body are used for loading and unloading the cars at the rear.

With the dropsides removed, the outfit can accommodate three smallish cars, and three sets of securing bollards are fitted beneath the floor to anchor them during transit. With the sides and tailboard in position, the vehicle can be used normally to carry goods which, in the case of car importers, for example, may be batches of spare parts collected from the docks. Steel cover plates fit over the anchoring bollards to give a smooth floor.

With the sides at the rear of the body

removed and a partition fitted across the rear of the forward deck, there is provision for a mixed load—for example, spares at the front and two cars at the rear. A 10-cwt. winch is mountedbelow the floor and can be used to load cars which are not conveniently drivable; it is also intended for use in the outfit's other role—which is as a .breakdown recovery vehicle.

The semi-trailer has a 3-ton payload capacity and is equipped with twin 25 by 6 tyres. Overall width is 7 ft. and the hinged sides and tailboard are 1 ft. 3 in. high.
